How to Enable Microphone AccessA quick guide for every browser and device

Platform3 min read

eevi is built around speaking. During onboarding, when you meet eevi for the first time, your browser or device will ask for microphone access. If you accidentally denied it, or if something isn't working, this guide will help you fix it.

When does eevi ask for microphone access?

eevi asks for microphone permission during onboarding, when you first meet your AI tutor. You'll see a prompt from your browser or device asking to allow microphone access for eevi.ai. Tap or click "Allow" and you're ready to start speaking.

If you denied access, skipped the step, or if the prompt didn't appear, follow the steps below for your browser or device.

Troubleshooting

"No Microphone Found"

This means eevi can't detect a microphone on your device. If you're on a desktop, make sure your headset or microphone is plugged in and selected as the input device in your system settings.

"Microphone in use by another app"

Close other apps that might be using your microphone (video calls, voice recorders, other browser tabs with active voice features). Then tap "Try Again" in eevi.

The permission prompt never appeared

Some browsers block the permission prompt if you previously denied it. Follow the manual steps above for your browser to re-enable microphone access.

Still not working?

Try these steps in order:

  1. Close all other tabs and apps using the microphone
  2. Restart your browser
  3. Check that your system volume is not muted
  4. Try a different browser (Chrome usually works best)
  5. If on mobile, try the web version at eevi.ai
