Terms of Service
Last updated: May 21, 2026
Welcome to eevi
At eevi, we believe the best way to learn a language is by speaking it. Our mission is to make language learning feel natural through conversation-first practice with instant, personalized feedback.
By using eevi, you agree to these terms. We've kept them simple and straightforward. Please also review our Privacy Policy which explains how we handle your data.
Our Service
Eevi provides AI-powered language learning through voice conversations. You can practice speaking, receive instant feedback, and track your progress as you learn.
You are practising with an AI. Your conversation partner in eevi is an artificial-intelligence system, not a human teacher. The AI relies on third-party large language models and can make mistakes, including occasional errors in pronunciation, grammar, or factual content. You should not rely on it as the sole source of language authority. The current AI providers are listed in our Privacy Policy. This disclosure is provided in line with Article 50 of the EU AI Act.
Free Access and Trials
From time to time we may offer free access (a limited number of free lessons, a time-limited free trial of a paid plan, or other promotional access). The specific terms of any free access (length, scope, whether payment details are required, and what happens at the end) are displayed at the point of sign-up or upgrade. Unless otherwise stated at sign-up: if a free trial requires payment details and you do not cancel before it ends, your paid subscription begins automatically at the price displayed when you signed up.
Subscriptions, Payment, and Auto-Renewal
We offer several subscription plans with different billing intervals. Current pricing and available plans are always displayed on our pricing page and are shown again on the screen where you confirm the purchase.
- All prices are displayed in Euros (€) and include applicable VAT.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the price displayed when you signed up. For Apple App Store subscriptions, Apple's rules apply: you must cancel through your Apple ID or App Store Subscriptions settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date. For Google Play subscriptions, cancel through Google Play subscriptions. For web subscriptions (Stripe), you can cancel at any time before the renewal date from your subscription settings in the app or the Stripe-backed customer portal, and we send a reminder before each renewal.
- Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep access until then.
- Except for the EU right of withdrawal described below, we do not refund partial billing periods or unused time.
- Payments are processed securely through Stripe (web purchases) or through Apple or Google (purchases made inside the iOS or Android app).
- For in-app purchases, the actual billing and renewal are handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play under their respective terms.
Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumers)
If you are a consumer based in the European Union, you have the right under the EU Consumer Rights Directive to withdraw from a paid subscription within 14 days of purchase, without giving any reason.
How to withdraw: send a clear statement of your decision to withdraw to info@eevi.ai, or cancel your subscription from your account settings within 14 days of your purchase. You may use (but are not required to use) the model withdrawal form:
Model withdrawal form
(complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract)
- — To Eevi B.V., Postbus 15659, 1001 ND Amsterdam, info@eevi.ai:
- — I/We (*) hereby give notice that I/We (*) withdraw from my/our (*) contract of sale of the following goods (*)/for the provision of the following service (*),
- — Ordered on (*)/received on (*),
- — Name of consumer(s),
- — Address of consumer(s),
- — Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper),
- — Date.
- (*) Delete as appropriate.
Refund: we will refund the price you paid within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, using the same payment method you used for the purchase, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise.
Use during the withdrawal period. You have 14 days from the start of your paid subscription to withdraw without giving a reason. We will not begin providing the paid service during this period unless you expressly request us to and acknowledge that you will lose your right of withdrawal once we have fully performed. If you confirm both of those at checkout (we ask for an express tick at the point of purchase) and we then begin providing the service at your request, you may lose your right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed; if you withdraw before that point, we may charge for the portion of the service already provided, calculated pro-rata against the full subscription price. If you do not give that confirmation at checkout, you keep the full 14-day right of withdrawal and a full refund.
For purchases made through Apple's App Store or Google Play, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their respective refund policies, not by eevi directly.
Promotional Pricing
From time to time, we may offer promotional discounts, launch pricing, or special offers. These promotions are time-limited and subject to change without notice. The price you pay at checkout is the price that applies to your subscription for that billing period. Promotional pricing applies only to new subscriptions and may not be available for renewals or plan changes.

Intellectual Property
The eevi service, including the software, the original lessons, the curriculum, the branding, and other materials we produce, is owned by Eevi B.V. and is protected by copyright and applicable trade-name law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on these materials without our written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use of features the service intentionally exposes.
Your Content and Licences
Eevi works by transcribing and responding to what you say (your audio is sent in real time to our AI providers for inference; eevi does not store your audio). Anything you say, type, or upload while using eevi ("Your Content") remains yours. By using eevi, you grant Eevi B.V. a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transcribe, display back to you, store the resulting transcripts, and produce aggregated or anonymised data from Your Content, for the sole purposes of operating the service, troubleshooting, and improving the quality of the AI tutor. We will not use Your Content to train any third party's general-purpose AI model. We will not use Your Content for marketing or testimonials without your separate, explicit, opt-in consent.
AI tutor output. The AI tutor's responses are generated by a third-party large language model and are unlikely to attract copyright protection in your jurisdiction. We do not claim ownership over the AI output. You may use the AI's responses for your personal language learning. We make no warranty as to the copyrightability or originality of AI output and you should not rely on it for any commercial or distribution purpose.
Your warranties. By submitting Your Content you confirm that you have the right to do so. You agree not to share, through eevi, personal information about other people without a lawful basis, illegal or infringing material, or anything that violates the acceptable-use rules in these Terms or Apple's or Google's platform rules.
AI Output and Conformity
We provide eevi with reasonable skill and care and in line with the conformity rights you have under Boek 7 of the Dutch Civil Code. Eevi uses third-party AI models, and the AI's outputs (corrections, translations, explanations, pronunciation feedback) can contain mistakes. We do not warrant that AI outputs are free of errors and you should not rely on them as the sole authority for any language. This disclaimer applies to AI-generated content only and does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, (c) intent (opzet) or gross negligence (bewuste roekeloosheid), (d) any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Dutch consumer law or the General Data Protection Regulation (Art. 82 GDPR), or (e) breach of statutory consumer rights you may have under Boek 7 of the Dutch Civil Code.
Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to the service is limited to the greater of (i) one hundred euros (€100) and (ii) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Service Availability and Force Majeure
We aim to keep eevi available 24/7 but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may carry out maintenance or apply minor updates at any time. We may make material changes to the service, suspend it, or discontinue it where (a) required by law, (b) the change does not materially impair the service we have agreed to provide you, or (c) we give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid subscription on a pro-rata basis for the unused period. If a material change is unacceptable to you, you may terminate your subscription with effect from the change date and receive a pro-rata refund.
Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing the service that results from events outside our reasonable control, including outages of third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI or Google), infrastructure failures, internet disruptions, cyberattacks, natural disasters, strikes, or government action. If the service is unavailable for more than 72 consecutive hours within a paid billing period for reasons within our control, we will, on request, credit or refund a pro-rata portion of your subscription for the affected period.
Your Responsibility (Indemnity)
You agree to use eevi lawfully and in line with these Terms and with Apple's and Google's platform rules. To the extent permitted by law, you will reimburse us for reasonable losses, fines, or third-party claims we incur as a direct result of (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your unlawful use of the service, (c) your sharing through eevi of personal data about other people without a lawful basis, or (d) content you submit that infringes someone else's rights. This obligation is proportionate to your actual conduct and does not apply to anything caused by our own fault.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app and ask you to confirm the updated Terms before you keep using the paid service. Minor, non-material updates (such as typo fixes or clarifications) may be made without a re-confirmation request. If a material change adversely affects you and is unacceptable, you may terminate your subscription with effect from the change date and we will refund any prepaid amounts on a pro-rata basis.
Jurisdiction-Specific Provisions
These Terms apply wherever you use eevi. The following provisions apply in addition where local law makes them relevant:
- United Kingdom. The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) applies to your personal data and the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority for UK complaints.
- Switzerland. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) applies and the Swiss FDPIC is the supervisory authority.
- United States. To the extent permitted by law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of eevi will be resolved on an individual basis and not as part of any class, consolidated, or representative action. You agree to waive the right to participate in a class action against Eevi B.V. concerning these Terms.
Wherever you are, nothing in these Terms limits the consumer rights you have under your local mandatory law.
Cancellation and Termination
You can cancel your subscription at any time:
- Web subscriptions: from your subscription settings in the app, the Stripe-backed customer portal, or by writing to info@eevi.ai.
- iOS subscriptions: through your Apple ID or App Store Subscriptions settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad).
- Android subscriptions: through your Google Play subscriptions (Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions).
After cancellation, you keep access until the end of your current billing period. You can also delete your eevi account entirely from your account settings, which erases your eevi-held account data within 30 days subject to our retention policy (see our Privacy Policy for details). Account deletion is separate from subscription cancellation: deleting your eevi account does not cancel Apple App Store or Google Play subscriptions, and web subscriptions should be cancelled through your eevi subscription settings, the Stripe-backed customer portal, or support before you delete the account if you want billing to stop.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including for abuse of the service or fraudulent payment activity. Where possible we will give you notice before doing so.
App Store and Google Play Terms
When you download or use the eevi app from Apple's App Store or from Google Play, the following additional terms apply:
- Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement (Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement) applies in addition to these terms. Where Apple's EULA and these terms conflict on a specific point, Apple's EULA controls for App Store users.
- Google Play's Terms of Service apply in addition to these terms for Android users.
- Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and have no obligation to support or maintain the app. All product warranties and support obligations rest with eevi.
- You agree to use the app in accordance with Apple's and Google's usage rules, including their restrictions on prohibited content and acceptable conduct.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes are to be resolved by the competent courts in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless a mandatory provision of consumer law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
If you are an EU consumer and we cannot resolve a dispute directly, you can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
